How to Choose a Setting

There are so many setting styles, but you only need one. The one. It feels almost overwhelming to think about where to even begin. If you lead an active lifestyle, consider a stone with more prongs or a secure halo setting. If you need more of a wow factor, consider adding a pavé to the band. There are so many options, so we'll walk you through our fundamentals to keep it simple.

Prongs

The most popular setting style, prongs are meant to truly accentuate your center stone diamond, allowing more light to come in from more angles. You can raise the stone higher or lower as well depending on your comfortability, which affects incoming light. Depending on your needs, 6 prongs are more secure while 4 prongs show off more of the diamond. Regardless of trends that come and go with each generation, prongs are evergreen and timeless.

Halo

A center stone surrounded by pavé or micropavé diamonds, a halo setting is a fantastic way to accentuate the carat of your center stone to make it appear larger and more brilliant. With more cuts in more stones to reflect light, your diamonds then bounce off the facets of one another to create more brilliance in your ring. This is a great option for those who also want to achieve a more "heirloom-like" ring, meant to be passed down from one generation to the next.

Hidden Halo

Looking for a more subtle way to incorporate pavé or micropavé diamonds into your ring? The hidden halo has become an ultra-popular option in accentuating your center stone diamond. By hiding a small circle of diamonds beneath your diamond, light comes in from every angle with extra reflection beneath the diamond to illuminate all around. Without taking up too much surface area on your finger, this is one of our favorite ways to really brighten up your ring in an elegant manner.

Cathedral

Perhaps one of the most sophisticated and prestige looks, a cathedral setting raises your center stone higher above your finger. The architectural look of the sweeping arms that hold up your center stone allow for a true pedastal for the diamond of your choice.

Pave

With all of the options you have for your style of setting, don't forget about what a simple pavé can add to the band. While thinking about the brilliance of the diamond, the band needs some attention too. Pavé diamonds add a more understated sparkle than a halo around the diamond, keeping attention on the center stone. Requiring expert craftsmanship to ensure ring security, this option is by far the most intricate and complex.
